About Kevin & his family

Kevin and his wife Jill, of 31 years (25 years of marriage & 6 years dating), have a son named Kaleb, and reside in West Lafayette, Indiana. They are a very active family who enjoy traveling, riding motorcycles, being outdoors, and serving others. They participate in medical mission trips, volunteering with the United Service Organization (USO), creating military member golf outings, and serving their church.

Jill is a local emergency medicine physician who works with the Indiana University Healthcare System through Indiana Emergency Care of Lafayette, Indiana.


Kevin and Jill have had 3 combat tours between them: Kevin to Iraq, Kuwait, and Cuba, and Jill to Iraq. Both are highly decorated veterans earning several top awards, including the Bronze Star, Combat Action Badge, Army Aviator Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Armed Forces Reserve Medal and Mobilization, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Bronze Hourglass Device, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Indiana Long Service Medal, Indiana Emergency Service Ribbon, Gold German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge & United Service Organization (USO) Volunteer of the Month.

  • Directed, supervised, and coordinated the planning, collection, evaluation, fusion, analysis, production, and dissemination of all-source intelligence and counter intelligence at all echelons.
  • Performed multi-disciplined collection management and coordination of surveillance activities, and advised on the use and employment of resources at all echelons. 
  • Managed and performed intelligence preparation of the battle field; employed automated intelligence data processing systems; developed and supervised intelligence training.  Advised the commander and subordinate units on enemy situations, capabilities, and vulnerabilities.
  • Completed multiple updates on enemy threat throughout Southwest Asia, providing critical information on enemy action
  • Worked closely with the U.S. Embassy-Kuwait and the United States Air Force to gather critical, relevant intelligence to assist with command decisions during combat operations.
  • Participated in numerous aviation missions throughout the U.S. Army Central Command Area of Operations.


Assistant J3 Current Operations Officer and Battle Captain 

Unit:  Task Force 134-Detainee Operations (i.e. POWs), Multi-National Forces Iraq (MNF-I), Camp Victory, Iraq.  Rank: 1LT

  • Served in support of joint and coalition operations for the Deputy Commanding General-Detainee Operations in a theater of war.
  • Demonstrated maturity and decision making abilities commensurate with an officer of higher rank and experience.
  • As a Battle Captain in a combat environment, where attacks from improvised explosive devices and indirect fires were a daily occurrence, handled the battle tracking and coordinating support for current operations throughout the Iraqi Theater of operations. 
  • When operations threatened to come unglued, made sound decisions and disseminated information to ensure the right support was utilized during operations. 
  • Proven track record of coordinating air and ground movement support in a theater of war to include the direct control and movement of the former Iraq leader, Sadaam Hussein.
  • Chosen by the Chief of Staff to coordinate, plan, and assist in the assessment of all Iraqi Theater detention facilities.  Responsible for coordinating the movement of the Theater Detention Assessment team with five major subordinate commands to visit 23 different detainee holding facilities throughout Iraq.
  • Given sensitive missions to include preparation of an intelligence assessment for the Multi-National Forces Commanding General, coordinated and escorted United Nations “Oil for Food” investigative team.
  • Coordination for the interviews of the High Value Detainees from the notorious Black List “deck of cards” 52.
  • Duties included routine contact with other branches of service, coalition military members, and various U.S. Government agencies.
  • Awarded Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge.


Infantry Platoon Leader

Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Rank 2LT

  • Platoon Leader of a 40 man Platoon deployed as part of a Battalion Task Force Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for Operation Enduring Freedom and supporting the Global War on Terrorism.
  • Primary mission was to secure Camp Delta, the Detainee Prison for those individuals responsible for the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States
  • Responsible for the discipline, morale, training and combat readiness of the platoon.
